IELTS-International English Language Testing System

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an assessment designed to gauge proficiency in the English language. Comparable to TOEFL, it is commonly chosen by individuals aspiring to study abroad in English-speaking countries. Moreover, countries like United States, Canada and Australia often require it as a component of their immigration procedures.

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam consists of four sections that evaluate different language skills:

  • Listening (30 minutes)
  • Reading (60 minutes)
  • Writing (60 minutes)
  • Speaking (11-14 minutes)

Divided into three parts and 2 Versions

Version 1

The total test duration is about 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are taken on the same day, usually in one sitting.

Version 2

The Speaking section may be conducted on the same day or within a week before or after the other sections.

IELTS offers both Academic and General Training versions. The Academic version is for those applying for higher education study abroad or professional registration, while the General Training version is typically for immigration purposes or non-academic training. Both versions have the same Listening and speaking sections, but differ in Reading and Writing tasks.
